Richard and Jane begin with the Season Premier of the every popular “In the Garden” series in which we discover that Jane does all the work. Then, Richard takes us to Perennials, an extraordinarily interesting garden center located just over the County Line on Highway 62 on the way to Bentonville. You will enjoy the visit. Mary Hayat, National spokeswoman for Better Living Without Chemistry has a to die for biscotti recipe and you’ll get a sour take on religion in “All the News from Berryville.” Johnice Dominick reviews Home Grown in the Ozarks and David Bell gives us his take on sustainability. The entirely tiresome facilitation by today’s Host is mitigated—no, vanishes!—with news from Frank Rebiejo, the Manager of the Eureka Springs Farmers’ Market. Frank is followed by a conversation with Melinda Large, owner of It’s a Mystery Bookstore located on the town square in Berryville, and—on Track 3—a conversation with Eileen Nichols who manages the award Winning Webb City Farmers’ Market. Filling in the blanks is a recipe for Bubble and Squeak, Public Service Announcements from the Carroll County Literacy Council, Wildfire Farm, and Jane Pille, board President of Carroll County Fresh. And: a Bucket List ramble in “All the News from Berryville,” and poems by Gary Snyder and Eugene McCarthy. Yup-all in all, a pretty good show!SONY DSC

Dan reads letters from listeners and is otherwise superfluous. Alica and Eddie Keever are back by popular demand and two pretty good interviews are offered. First, we visit with Stuart Drizner—Stu da Baker—and then we’re off to Bear Creek Nursery and advice for Gardeners. Not a bad show and, as always: fresh, local, and honest!Stuart Drizner 2

After an announcement about the Eureka Springs Farmers’ Market Schedule and a rusty reading of a fine Ann Carter poem set in Berryville, Arkansas, we hear from Renaissance Man Jerry Landrum: trombone player, gardener, inventor, and environmental activist. Season 3, Show 31, September 29, 2012

Today’s show is our season finale and the 31st program of Season Three. We spend a lot of time–but not nearly enough–thanking our essential partners and helpers. Our guests, creative contributors, and especially our listeners have made The Ozark Harvest Radio Hour a work of fun and joy. We are organic radio, “not always perfect, not always pretty, but always fresh local and honest” because we wouldn’t have it any other way. Today’s special guest is Ellen Foncannon Stephenson, a member of the creative Gallery 62 family of Stephensons. Ellen is also an artist, but her instrument is the keyboard and her art is composing and arranging music. We learn all about her new CD Winterwood, and about how it was produced–and where we can get it. Thanks again for making our 3rd season a success. We’ll “see” you again in March!

Season 3, Show 28, September 8, 2012

The Ozark Harvest Radio Hour addresses the whole mind-body fandango, space and time, and the idea of advanced entropy particularly as it applies to Clint Eastwood. Eureka Springs Farmers’ Market vendor “Kerry” sings an impromptu song, courtesy of our Man in the Street, Richard Pille. Dr. Jim Young, co-founder of the Ozarks Metaphysical Society, politely ignores these heady topics to tell us about his development as a metaphysician, Spiritual leader, and author. We hear about a few of his books, learn how to get them, and leave the interview yearning for more. Well, perhaps. Mary Hayat, National spokesperson for Better Living without Chemistry, shares a famous New Orleans’ recipe for Creole biscuits: get your pencils ready. Yup another entirely adequate show. Find it today and all week long, right here.
